In this informative and entertaining trunk show I'll show you how to take that panel you fell in love with and turn it into something truly unique. You'll experience my good, bad and AH HA moments as I learned how to work with the different styles of panels and how adding interesting block treatments and borders and filling those pesky open spaces with patchwork or appliqué results in a truly special quilt.

In this workshop quilters will take that panel they fell in love with and turn it into something truly unique. We'll discuss how to square up your panel segments, add interesting block treatments and borders and we'll cover the basics of graphing, adding coping strips and more, all guaranteed to make your panel project a success. There will be an overview of other techniques to create a beautiful project and time to begin designing your quilt!
Explore the endless possibilities of creating a unique Row by Row panel quilt using a multi-frame panel. We'll focus on enhancing the panel through the use of traditional quilt blocks, creating your own pieced or paper pieced and applique' blocks and highlighting those panel segments in unusual settings!
Come play with me and create an even more exciting panel project - a montage using words, images and embellishments along with your multi-frame panel! Let's dig deep into the creativity located within your panel, add images, words and ideas for embellishments to create a totally unique design you're sure to enjoy! You'll learn how to graph your own pieced pattern designs, create one-of-a-kind foundation pieced patterns and much more!
Together we'll select a traditional quilt pattern, add a panel and coordinating fabrics and work our way through the process of constructing a panel quilt in this one-day workshop. Creating a successful panel quilt in any style, from a traditional repeat block design to a Row by Row or a small art quilt montage, requires a beautifully executed plan complete with a math formula and a map or grid. In this workshop we will begin with the basic math of determining what size to shape the panel or panel images, which quilt blocks might highlight and showcase your panel images, how to figure coping strips to make pieced borders or traditional blocks work and so much more!
Have you ever wanted to include a block in a quilt, but couldn’t find a pattern or didn’t know how to make your own? Creating traditionally pieced, foundation pieced or applique’ blocks of your own design is easier than you think. Let’s reveal the secrets to graphing or creating your own blocks and start exploring the endless possibilities of your imagination! We’ll spend time with specific exercises, but bring an idea or two of your own to master as well!
If you’ve ever purchased a panel only to get it home and not know how to create a special quilt from it, then this class is for you! We’ll explore six common issues and problems inherent in most fabric panels and how to overcome each of them including how to square up wonky images, how to maneuver a large panel into a measurement that is easy to work with, how to do the math to add interesting borders and how to use panels in several interesting settings.
