The importance of the basics!
Why is it so important to really get a good foundation of the basics under your quilting feet? Well, just like a strong house is built on a solid foundation, so too, are excellent quilt making skills.
Don't uderestimate the power of learning from a great teacher as the basics will guide you throuhg many challenging projects for years to come!
Knowing how to achieve an accurate quarter inch seam, how to press for success, how to pin for accuracy and how to use your rulers for precision cutting all contribute to your success as a quilter - don't skip learning these steps thoroughly!
I love a fearless quilter - one who will take on any challenge, however, I worry about a fearless quilter who has no regard for good, strong basic skills.
Putting all of that work into a quilt without having knowledge of good construction fundamentals can lead to disaster!
Just my thought for today - sign up for a good beginning quilt class with an instructor who knows their stuff!
